About the Wabash River Enhancement Corporation
In 2004, the Wabash River Enhancement Corporation (WREC) was formed as a non-for-profit agency by Purdue University and three local governments-the City of Lafayette, City of West Lafayette, and Tippecanoe County. WREC was formed to guide enhancement of the Wabash River corridor. Initial funding was provided through a generous $500,000 grant from North Central Health Services, (NCHS) a regional non-profit agency that provides commuinty health services and grants to address community health and community development issues. WREC began active operations in 2005 when the first Executive Director, Stan Lambert, was hired.
The 2009 Wabash River Enhancement Corporation board of directors meets the last Friday of odd months (January, March, May, July, September, and November). WREC employs two staff members-Stan Lambert, Executive Director, and Sara Peel, Coordinator of Watershed Projects. Contact Stan or Sara to learn more about WREC's activities, to volunteer, and/or to provide feedback or input.
