Rural Committee

Nearly 70% of the Region of the Great Bend of the Wabash River watershed is utilized for row crop agriculture or pasture land. These lands and other rural areas throughout the watershed will be a focus of the rural committee.

Like the urban committee, the rural committee will operate on two levels: first, completing a watershed-wide inventory of all rural areas. The second phase of this committee's work will include identification of specific Best Management Practices (BMPs) which can be implemented during future phases of this project.

The rural inventory effort will be the focus of this committee in the spring and fall of 2009. The second phase will occur in 2010 and 2011.
