2013 April - May 3pm-5 pm RIP (Remove Invasive Plants)

The remove invasive plants (RIP) Squad is having its Spring 2013 Workdays to remove invasive garlic mustard from our West Lafayette and Tippecanoe County parks every Tuesday & Thursday afternoon from 3-5pm beginning April 2nd and going through May 30th.  Check our flyer for workday dates and locations.

2013 April 21 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Black Rock Barrens Garlic Mustard Pull

The NICHES land Trust is hosting a garlic mustard pull. Come out and learn to idenitfy the invasive garlic mustard plant, and then help removal them from a portion of the Black Rock Barrens Nature Preserve to prevent seeding. Plants are pulled out by hand and placed to they won't resprout. To RSVP please contact Susan Ulrich at sueandtedulrich@msn.com. Please fill out the volunteer waiver.

Directions to the Black Rock Barrens Nature Preserve in Warren County: The reserve is located south of Greenhill, IN on 300 North a few tenths of a mile west of 100 East. Look for sign and joint parking area with Weiler-Leopold Nature Reserve.

2013 May 4 9:00 a.m. - noon Arbor Day Tree Planting

Come out and help plant 69 trees and beautify Lafayette to celebrate Arbor Day. Holes will be pre-dug and trees will be ready to plant. Learn more or to volunteer, register here! If additional information is need please contact Larry Rose, larry@treelafayette.org.

2013 May 10 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Wabash Sampling Blitz

Join 200 of your closest friends to create a snapshot of water quality in the Wabash River and Wildcat Creek watershed. We provide all the necessary equipment and training! Learn more or volunteer!

2013 June 1 8:30 a.m. - noon De-Trash the Wabash

De-trash the Wabash is an annual event in which hundreds of volunteers come together in the spirit of community service to help clean up the Wabash River. This event unites both the young and the young at heart for a common goal: cleaner waterways. Learn more or to volunteer, register here!

2013 July 13 7:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Wabash Riverfest

Wabash Riverfest brings nearly 4,000 visitors to Tapawingo Park the second Saturday in July! Listen to live music, watch thrilling voyageur canoe rides, learn about conservation groups in the area, take a pony ride, run in our Clear-Blue-Green 5K and more! We need help organizing the event, setting and cleaning up, kids area attendants, information booth staff and more. Learn more or volunteer!
