Spring 2019 DeTrash the Wabash

DeTrash the Wabash is a bi-annual event that happens in the Spring and Fall each year. Stay tuned for the date of the next DeTrash event. Thank you to everyone who participated in the fall of 2018. 170 volunteers picked up over 2 tons of trash!

Come help remove trash from the banks of the Wabash River.  Check in is at Tapawingo Park in West Lafayette.  From there you will travel up or down the river (on land) to collect trash with a group of volunteers.  We supply gloves and trash bags for the volunteers as well as a pizza party at the end.  What do you think will be the weirdest thing you find in the Wabash?  During each DeTrash, we remove over 1 ton of trash, including things like tires, engines, fencing, and chairs. Much of the trash we collect is recycled.Dress for the weather (including close-toed shoes) and bring your re-useable water bottle. Remember to pick up after yourself and encourage others to do the same everyday.  Any little change you can make to your daily routine to produce less waste will greatly help the Wabash and our world's oceans!

Spring 2019 Wabash River Sampling Blitz
