River Corridor Development
Our long-range mission is to enhance the Wabash River Corridor in Fountain, Warren, Tippecanoe, and Carroll Counties. Currently, our efforts are focused on the Tippecanoe County portion of the Wabash River to take advantage of existing projects and resources. The Wabash River Greenway Project is our first step towards regional planning. The history of WREC’s planning efforts is documented in the reports below.
Water Quality Management and Improvement
Paired with our recreation and economic development is WREC’s water quality improvement efforts. The Wabash River is our region’s defining natural resource and we are working hard to improve water quality and enhance our natural resources. The first step in this process was developing a watershed management plan that has been approved by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. This plan and other reports on community engagement around water quality can be seen below.
Surveys
To effectively conduct community outreach, we have to know what we’re starting with and what our community members’ value. Extensive public surveys and studies have been done to guide our decision making. The results of these surveys can be seen below.
